Toxic dryer sheets and fabric softeners leave their poisonous residue on clothes AND the dryer and, consequently, everything that passes through that dryer. This is why that kind offer from friends and hotels to wash and dry without any products doesn’t work for us. To expedite removal of these contaminants, try soaking a couple old towels (clean but ready to be tossed) in vinegar and “drying” them on air fluff/no heat for 20 minutes. Vinegar is a natural degreaser and should help pull some of that nasty stuff off your dryer drum. Also, be sure to vacuum out the lint trap AND vinegar-rinse the mesh lint catcher. If you can clean your dryer duct, do so. We use a shop vac. Some friends use a leaf blower.
